Most people eat three main meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
In addition, while some also eat one or more snacks, it is individual how often we feel hunger and how much food we need.
You must therefore eat according to your own appetite and your needs.
Your blood sugar fluctuates throughout the day.
The fluctuations in your blood sugar depend on what you eat, how much you eat, and when you eat.
In addition, it's good to remember, it is the carbohydrates that especially affect your blood sugar.
You can see more about this in the film: “How does food affect my blood sugar?”.
To achieve the most stable blood sugar possible, it can therefore be an advantage, if you distribute carbohydrates from food and drink across meals during the day.
If you eat 1, 2 or maybe 3 snacks a day, it is therefore important that you choose healthy foods.
Snacks should preferably not be too large, so they spoil your appetite at your main meals.
For example, you can eat whole grain rye bread, a multigrain bun or multigrain crispbread with cold cuts or cheese for a snack.
If you only need a little, you can eat some unsalted nuts, some veggies or some fruit.
Here are some examples of some snacks.
Here's an example of some chocolate that could be a snack.
If you want to cut down a bit on the carbohydrates, it would be a good idea to make some changes to this snack.
You can remove some of the chocolate.
You can replace the chocolate that you removed with some acidic milk product and top it with a little muesli.
This way you get fewer carbohydrates, and you also get some more protein that will make you feel full.
Another example could be saltines.
They also contain a lot of carbohydrates, so if you want to cut down on the carbohydrates, this is another case where it would be a good idea to remove some of the crackers.
This also removes some of the carbohydrates.
You could replace them with some cheese and some veggies, in this case carrots.
This way you will have saved some carbohydrates.
You've also gotten some more protein to make you feel full, and you've gotten some more vegetables.
These are the ways you can think about changing your snacks, so you'll cut back overall on some carbohydrates, which will give you a more stable blood sugar.
