It's believed that 2-4% of those who receive artificial hip joints, experience that the artificial joint head jumps out of its socket.

If this happens, it usually does so within 3 months of surgery.

This is very uncomfortable and painful.
Should this happen, it'll be necessary to re-position the joint under anaesthesia. This has to be done in hospital.
